William A. Baker is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno (BA. 1977) and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (J.D. 1981). Mr. Baker was a Deputy District Attorney with the office of the Washoe County District Attorney in the Civil Division for twelve years under three elected District Attorneys. Mr. Baker then served for three years as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Reno in their litigation division. During this portion of his career, Mr. Baker developed extensive litigation experience in. state and federal Courts, including the defense of police officers in Section 1983 United States Code Civil Rights violation cases, use of force defense, constitutional torts, Title VII employment discrimination cases, First and Forth Amendment litigation, land use planning and zoning, personal injury, risk management, insurance and property damage litigation.
Criminal defense matters have also been undertaken on behalf of select clients, including Driving Under the Influence, customs violations, traffic offenses and other criminal charges. Mr. Baker has prosecuted appeals before the Nevada Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and all state and local District and Justice Courts. He has developed an extended expertise in the representation of Nevada Common Ownership Interest Communities (Home Owners Associations) primarily in the Incline Village/Lake Tahoe geographical area. Mr. Baker has business and transactionally related experience involving real property and the sale of businesses assets as well as domestic relations and probate practice experience in all local courts.
Mr. Baker is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Washoe County Bar Association and sits frequently as a Pro Tern Judge for the Washoe County Justice Courts in Reno, Sparks and Incline Village. Mr. Baker has served as a private mediator 11w dispute resolution and is currently training to serve as an Arbitrator/Mediator Panel member for the State of Nevada's statutory Alternate Dispute Resolution Process, which is a mandated process by the State Legislative prior to the initiation of most legal actions involving a common interest community or its membership. Mr. Baker represents a number of Associations in State ADR proceedings as an advocate for the Association in disputes prior to taking such matters to Court to seek enforcement and compliance with Association governing documents.
Ann Setty Rosevear was raised in Reno and Elko, Nevada. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (BA. 1992) and Gonzaga University School of Law (J.D. 1996) in Spokane, Washington. Ms. Rosevear practiced at the firm of Marsh & Higgins, P.C. in Vancouver, Washington, from 1996 to 2000 before returning to Nevada in 2000, where she practiced as in-house counsel in Lake Tahoe, Nevada before joining Walsh, Baker & Rosevear, P.C. in 2002.
Ms. Rosevear focused her law school experience in appellate competition and legal aid services, enabling her to gain extensive early experience in legal writing and litigation while maintaining dean's list status for seven semesters and graduating cum laude. During school, Ms. Rosevear also worked for as a Lexus-Nexus representative, for the Washington Advocacy Group as a mental patient liaison and as a legal assistant at the Law Office of James M. Triplett while in school.
In 1996, Ms. Rosevear began her career at Marsh & Higgins, P.C., gaining significant experience as a general practitioner but primarily focusing on business and employment law, estate planning and litigation, including family law litigation. In 1996 and 1997, Ms. Rosevear obtained her Oregon and Washington bar membership and her admission to appear before the courts of the U.S. Ninth Circuit and U.S. District for Western Washington.
Ms. Rosevear returned to Nevada and worked as in-house counsel for a family of entrepreneurial companies located at Lake Tahoe. In 2002, Ms. Rosevear and her partners formed Walsh, Baker & Rosevear.
