Bill Baker

Started his career as a Deputy District Attorney with the office of the Washoe County District Attorney in the Civil Division. He was there for twelve years under three elected District Attorneys. Followed by three years as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Reno in their litigation division. During this portion of his career, William developed widespread litigation experience.


Practice Areas

Litigation experience in State and federal Courts, including the defense of police officers in Section 1983 United States Code Civil Rights violation cases, use of force defense, constitutional torts, Title VII employment discrimination cases, First and Fourth Amendment litigation, land use planning and zoning, personal injury, risk management, insurance and property damage litigation. Criminal defense matters have also been undertaken on behalf of select clients, including Driving Under the Influence, customs violations, traffic offenses and other criminal charges. Mr. Baker has prosecuted appeals before the Nevada Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and all state and local District and Justice Courts.

Mr. Baker has expertise in the representation of Nevada Common Ownership Interest Communities (Home Owners Associations) primarily in the Incline Village/Lake Tahoe geographical area. William has business and transactional related experience involving real property and the sale of businesses assets as well as domestic relations and probate practice experience in all local courts.


Graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno (BA. 1977) and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (J.D. 1981).

Community Involvement

A member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Washoe County Bar Association and sits frequently as a Pro Tern Judge for the Washoe County Justice Courts in Reno, Sparks and Incline Village. Served as a private mediator and dispute resolution and is currently training to serve as an Arbitrator/Mediator Panel member for the State of Nevada’s statutory Alternate Dispute Resolution Process, which is a mandated process by the State Legislative prior to the initiation of most legal actions involving a common interest community or its membership. Mr. Baker represents a number of Associations in State ADR proceedings as an advocate for the Association in disputes prior to taking such matters to Court to seek enforcement and compliance with Association governing documents.
